CEO Raj Lahoti of OnlineGURU Inc. Joins Young Entrepreneur Council

San Diego, CA. February 23, 2011 -- Today OnlineGURU Inc. CEO Raj Lahoti joined Young Entrepreneur Council (YEC). The organization—which inducts new members on a rolling basis—is a unique group of aspiring business owners and the world’s top, young entrepreneurs. In recent years, Lahoti’s success in the Web publishing industry sparked the interest of YEC Founder Scott Gerber, and landed him as an elite member.

Young Entrepreneur Council aims to offer entrepreneurship as an alternative to youth unemployment and underemployment. The organization supports its invite-only members through every stage of business development and growth by offering them access to tools, mentorship, community and educational resources. Members come from a variety of industries including marketing, technology, education and more. During his involvement with YEC, Lahoti plans to continue helping other young business owners in the Web industry and beyond on their path to success.

Lahoti is no stranger to such astounding mentorship. He says good advice has been a huge part of his success. As a YEC member, he hopes to give back some of the insight and guidance he picked up on his entrepreneurial journey. “So many people want to start businesses, but are afraid to ask for help and don't know where to go. That’s why YEC is so valuable. It gives these aspiring young entrepreneurs a valuable resource and access to people who ‘get it.’ Plus, members get to surround themselves with other fired-up individuals who are making a difference in the world,” Lahoti said.

Co-founder and CEO of OnlineGURU, Inc., Lahoti started his first Web site at age 14. Since then, he’s developed numerous sites that simplify the lives of the online community. His company’s flagship site DMV.ORG sees the highest number of visitors in his portfolio of successful sites. More than 60 million users per year visit DMV.ORG for easy-to-understand, useful, state-specific info on everything from driver’s licensing and vehicle registration to buying a new car or paying a traffic ticket.

In addition to the successes Lahoti has experienced with OnlineGURU, he has also received numerous awards. Inc.com named him No. 9 in its 30 Under 30: America’s Coolest, Young Entrepreneurs. He’s also earned honors in San Diego, Calif. as a finalist for the Ernst and Young prestigious Entrepreneur of the Year Award, and as the winner of the Association for Corporate Growth San Diego (ACGSD) 2007 Deal Makers Awards in the High Growth category. Lahoti is also a member of Young Presidents’ Organization, Entrepreneurs’ Organization and Association for Corporate Growth. To keep up with his latest innovations, connect with him on LinkedIn.
